 Lead
Pastor Ron Vanderwell hails from
the proud town of Lebanon, Iowa — a town too small to
even have a cross street or stop sign. As a child,
he lived in various places in Michigan and Illinois.
He once fixed up an old sailboat with several family
members and taught himself to sail on Lake Michigan.
After graduating from his college and seminary training, Ron
led the re-visioning of Southern Heights Church,
a Christian Reformed congregation in Kalamazoo, MI.
After serving there for nearly a decade, God
called Ron and his wife Deb to plant a new church in
California. They moved their family to
Northern California in January, 2000.
Ron
once ran up the second-largest down
escalator in the world, located near Washington,
D.C. We don’t know why — he just did.
Ron is a board member of the Natomas Community
Association and chair of the Site Council of Natomas Park
Elementary School. Ron and
Deb live in Natomas with their three boys: John,
Adam, and Jacob.
